B.E.D.A Day 24 - Thinking With Portals

So today I spent a large amount of the time I should have spent revising on Portal 2, which was really a bad idea on my part, but I don't regret it because technically Portal 2 and the Portal series in general is technically one of the most educational game series out there. It might sound a bit crazy to say, because at first glance that doesn't really seem to be the case, however it is true because the game teaches the player valuble lessons in logic, problem solving, situation evaluation and relativistic physics. Now this might not seem instantly applicable to many scenarios, but as those stuffy people that run the education system like to say, it teaches you "life skills" that can be applied to a massive amount of areas in life.

It sounds like im trying to come up with any old random reason to justify the time I spent playing Portal 2, however during that time there was many moments where I experianced genuine satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment upon completing a level, somewhat of a rare experiance to me in the world of gaming, which is what prompted me to talk about it in todays blog. Now of course at its core its still a game, one which has a excellent storyline, intruiging characters and incredible voice acting from the whole cast, all of which means that the game as a whole experiance is both entertaining, intruiging and educational, something which you can't really say often into todays era of FPS dominance.

So in the end im saying this, PLAY PORTAL 2!!!!!!!!!!! :D

I'll see you on the other side of the test chamber.....

Question: Have you got Portal 2? what do you think of it?

DFTBA
