B.E.D.A Day 12 - Revisiting the Classics

So on the weekend i picked up the Back To The Future Trilogy on DVD for £10 at HMV, which i thought was a pretty good deal considering how epic this classic trilogy is, feeling about the third one aside, and also because i hadn't watched any of the films in a while and so was feeling a tad nostalgic and wanted to revisit them.

I watched the first one last night and was glad to see my memory of the film hadn't been tarnished, if anything it had been altered in a good way as I hadn't watched the film in about 5 years and being only 11 last time I watched it, unable to grasp some of the finer details of film that make it such a classic. Things like the Chuck Berry reference near the end and the various other references to famous artists of the eras after the 50's like Van Halen and Hendrix was a welcome suprise as i hadn't really known that much about the artist the last time i had watched the film.

Other things like Marty's use of the word "heavy" and Doc not being able to understand that it had nothing to do with Gravity and also his reference to "Global Atomic Wars" upon seeing his future self wearing the radiation suit, highlighting the paranoia of the 50's and 60's of the potential outbreak of nuclear war were welcome nuances i hadn't noticed before.

I now more clearly understand than before why the film is regarded as such an classic and a milestone in the Sci-Fi genre of films and now I look forward to watching Part 2 tonight, hoping for a similer experiance.

Question: What is your favourite classic film?
